Happy Canada day ! " kanata "
I wish you a happy Canada day , altough it's late .So many people around the world dont know The origin of the name "Canada"! Canada name's comes from the expedition of Jacques Cartier in 1535 , up to the river St Lawrance..

The Iroquois pointing out the route to the village of Stadacona, the future site of Quebec City, used the word "kanata," the Huron-Iroquois word for village. Jacques Cartier used the word Canada to refer to both the settlement of Stadacona and the land surrounding it subject to Chief Donnacona.
In the maps around 1547, all the area north of the St. Lawrence River was shown as " canada ".From the St Lawrence river was called in french By Jaques Cartier " la rivière du Canada " , till 1600s this name was still stuck to it .
from 1600s, new france was refered as canada and in 1700s it was applied to the american midwest.
" At Confederation in 1867, the British North America Act officially joined the Province of Canada (Quebec and Ontario) with Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to become (one Dominion under the name of Canada) " . Canada wasn't the only name considered for the new dominion though. Other names suggested at the time of Confederation were :
